I'm curious that Vic Pol heli were not the first to (to be reported) to sight the following morning, assuming they had intel from the night flight and assuming geo pointing kit from that flight was able to give an accurate fix on the 'target' and assuming police wanted to be seen to find him ahead of anyone else.
Put another way, when the Channel Nine made the radio call was Vic Pol helicopter in the near vicinity or were they miles away with no more accurate idea of where the man was than the day before?
No big deal to see the subject at night especially if he has a torch lighting the interior of a tent if the weather was clear.
If weather was overcast then it becomes more interesting.....
