In regard to Stage 2, it's probably true - you can't really prepare for it to any great extent. However, practicing basic arithmetic doesn't hurt. Also have a go at playing some reaction speed computer games. Many of the tests involve sorting shapes/colours into different categories based on certain 'rules'.
