I flew there a few weeks back and had much the same experience.
Tim, the owner, made me and my passenger very welcome with the tea/coffee and told us about his plans for the place, especially hot food from his new kitchen which was almost complete.
I thought it was a friendly, well kept and well run place with good runways. Easy to spot too.
I'll be going back.
