Great Oakley
Anyone flown to this airfield, just to the West of Harwich? I flew there today in a 172, only my 5th destination since passing my PPL but must say that I definitely recommend anyone to pay a visit! 2 well kept runways in a lovely area of Essex country side and a very friendly owner (ex-farmer) who invited us in to his comfy clubhouse and made us free tea/coffee as part of the landing fee. I must say that is was a very welcome relief and much more enjoyable day out than any of the larger airports I've flown in to.
Can anyone recommend any similar places to go spend a nice relaxing day? It's times like this that I feel very lucky and priviledged to be a GA pilot.
