Sorry, can't answer the question about Qatar, however I find the 'who cares' technical questions coment interesting
I have a friend who was recently interviewed for a 737 command position. He was asked about hydraulic failures and what related systems could effectively be lost with either system A or B. After answering sketchily, he replied he would consult the QRH. The interviewers agreed, stating that's what any professional pilot would be expected to do, however they also implied that they expected someone with considerable 737 experience should infact have a certain level of understanding about the aircraft that they fly, especially when it related to it's major components.
Not saying that this may be he case with Qatari, and I certainly agree if they start asking non-specific questions that have obviously been hand picked from something like the 'Ace the Techncal Pilot Interview' book. I would imagine you are implying that this is the case.
