Thanks for that S'land. You also have hit the nail on the head. It is indeed the Bartini Stal'8, unfortunately I have been unable to find a photograph of the Stal'8. Apparently the cockpit canopy slid forward over the windscreen which accounts for the odd apperance in the side elevation with the undercarriage down.
