Poorly written article.
Seems to be the topic which is coming up more often
CNN Similar article on US training
However, it does still touch on the point that there are problems with the training establishments and the way training is conducted currently.
It comes down to this self selection issue as well since anyone can "pay" to be a pilot; there just isn't much quality control left in the system.
Andy McBride (Forgive me if the name or spelling is wrong) in the FTN magazine wrote two articles touching this one called "The F word" and one about CRM and how pilots who were chopped of type rating courses more than once - still seem to find jobs. I am all for the "can do" attitude - but as an instructor told me once when I was a student:
"I wanted to be a professional rugby player when I was younger but I wasn't good enough so didn't make it"
In pilot training it seems everyone gets through - and we are beginning to see that the lack of some fundamentals is starting to cause problems.
Not everyone is cut out to be a professional pilot, but if you pay enough money you can be.
