It always depends on the airline. Im from Spain and when i joined EK (different company, i know, but example still applies), i had to fly MAD-FRA-DXB. The Madrid Frankfurt leg was on Lufthansa and although i had excess baggage, i told them the story (cause there is some kind of camaraderie here in Spain among airline industry workers). Listen, i've been recruited to live in another country blablabla, and i have to take all my life with me. "EMIRATES?? HOW LUCKY!, Ok, no problem with your excess baggage. Have a good flight", was the answer. I took, one guitar, one bass guitar, one desktop computer, 2 monitors, and obviously all my clothes
. Couldn't live without any of those.
