Wish I still had some of the old pix from Masons Bay, Spit Island, Doughboy Bay or Big Bay as shot from a BN-2 on many, many flights whilst doing LOW LEVEL
beach inspections prior to landing on commercial ops -entirely legally. Just because you see a pic shot from an aircraft LL on a beach doesn't mean that the flight was operating even
slightly illegally. When you are doing a proper beach inspection, it is
necessary to get pretty much 'right down in the weeds' if you are to have any hope of seeing things that could potentially take the shine off your
whole day -if you haven't
already looked for them, found them and sorted out an appropriate method of handling them.
Just a glance at the original photo was enough for me to see it was well over the 100' your post suggested
