FFA stands for: Flug- und Fahrzeugwerke Altenrhein.

Altenrhein is near where the river Rhine (Rhein) flows into Lake Constance.
Birthplace of the FFA P-16 ground attack fighter, the wing of which was later adopted for the first Learjets.
