I think that was the manoeuvre Neil Williams called the 'Flying Saucer' in 1st edition of 'Aerobatics'. I tried it in an S2A in Malaysia with similar results and Mike and I swapped experiences when he rejoined the team in Dubai, Jan '80. I don't think Neil's description was quite accurate and the manoeuvre seems to have been removed from later editions of the book.
