We increased the crowd line last year and this year to reduce the risk of FOD on the taxiway along with reducing the risk of damage to vintage, club and private aircraft.
Whilst we really don't want to spoil the fun for enthusiasts, the safety of our visitors, staff and aircraft has to be a priority. As our visitor numbers grow, so do our safety measures. It's important to remember that while enthusiasts like yourself understand safety, the vast majority of our community visitors - who the day is aimed at - may not.
We think this is still the closest you will get to aircraft like the ones we have on display at a free event.
Ditto for the security presence - an event of this scale has to be properly policed for everyone's safety. Let's not forget that LCY is an international airport, not just a space for a community event.
Really pleased you enjoyed BA's village. The first A318 rolls off the production line soon so we'll see what we can do for next year.
