Hello WHBM - you mention that there didn't seem to be much publicity n the local area for this year's Fun Day so we thought we'd respond to you.
We did the following this year:
- A dedicated Fun Day web site - London City Airport : Funday 2009
- 36 x posters across the airport terminal walkway for three months
- Advertising in the airport terminal - landside and airside
- Banner adverts on every page of the airport's web site for six months
- e-Blast to our database of 55,000 users every month
- 72,000 leaflets sent to all schools, community centres, GP surgeries, etc within a two mile radius of the airport three weeks before the event
- A full page advert in last week's Wharf newspaper
- A full page write-up of the air show on page two of The Docklands newpaper three weeks ago
- Coverage in the Newham Recorder every week for four weeksin the run up to the event
- Coverage in the last two issues of BA News
As you'll see, we publicised the event quite extensively, resulting in almost 26,000 visitors through the gates this year - this is the highest number on record.
As for the air show - we had a total of 24 aircraft, both static and display. We physically cannot accommodate any more aircraft at our aerodrome.
Where else in the UK can you see the Hurricane XII Z5140 and a rare Spitfire ML407 along with the famous Dennis Kenyon for FREE?
We're sorry you couldn't make it as you missed the best event in the 13 year history of Fun Day.
