The pdf roster is not a calendar compatible format so you would have to copy and paste sections into the calendar. As mentioned before this is much easier to do if you have outlook on your PC that you sync your iphone with. Likewise this will back up all your contacts and appointments should your phone get lost or damaged - you do need to make sure the option for syncing calendar, notes, and contacts is enabled (only need calendar but best for all for backups).
If like me you charge your phone off the PC rather than a wall socket then it is great as everything is synced up and backed up every day meaning that you have less chance to lose anything.
Another option would be to install a pdf viewer on the iphone but you wont get reminders that way.

I do remember though it won't let you do more than 6 months in advance or something like that
IIRC that is a changeable option in the nokia phone sync software, its default is six months because the N95 does not have that much memory as standard.
