I am sorry for this slightly off topic question, but did the Hueys in Vietnam have numbers on them (808)? And what was that number about?

There is a Huey in the hangar we fly out from (Switzerland LSZR) with 688 painted at the front. It's been restored by its owner and is a great ship.
