From my Understanding Dublin dispatch is that Arann are one year into a three year contract on the Irish PSO's. After this time the PSO will only be up for renewal. Last time round an number of operators that had an interest in them, but could not make the terms and conditions of the PSO routes with a minimum seat capacity and stuff. I think the figure is 29+, Eastern have a capacity of that but not greater on the jetstream. As for the Saab, The cost of the PSO routes would be alot higher than any of Aranns ATR's. Great machine but the fuel burn is as high as a jet with only 50 seats. Are some of the routes over seated? I'd say yes, Only thing that may happen is when they are up for renewal is that the Irish GOV/EU cut the requirements on the seating, that is in 2 years time. If Eastern are in Dublin, I'd think it was to start new routes from there not PSO's.
