"Airport director Brian Cox said the airport had decided the plans and funding in place were not enough to keep the airport running successfully, and so they had decided to look for a new owner. “The long-term ability to find funds was insecure and we thought now was the time for someone else,” he said. “We are definitely not trying to compete with Birmingham but it’s got an excellent potential as a passenger airport within reason."
Now:

Be a bit tricky developing a long term relationship if you're not planning to be there, otherwise could have put the for sale ad in the personal column
