Don't give statements to police or others without having talked to the owner/operator, or an attorney hired by the owner/operator.

Any attotney hired by the owner/operator is hired to protect the interests of the owner/operator and not your interests as the pilot. If you feel you need an attorney get your own one.
The on site security thing is a good point and easily forgotten, more than one G/A pilot has pulled off a good field landing with little or no damage to come back in the morning to find some yob has torched the aircraft.
