I concur about the hearing test. When I did my initial medical I had to do it again as I didn't know it had begun! Nowadays, when I go for my medical renewal the hearing test is the one bit I loathe. Hearing seems to be good enough though and I can certainly always hear pilots moaning.

Like you, I initially wasn't sure the test had started.
Despite all this, the lady doing the test said when viewing the results that my hearing was "extremely good" which was pleasing, but if that's the case then I feel for anyone with normal or sub-normal hearing as they won't hear a thing on that test.
