I *think* the material is called "Fiberfrax" - it is a fiberglass-looking material with high ceramic content and several experimental class aircraft use it for firewall/fireblocking. You can get whatever you need for this from Aircraft Spruce. There is an EZ builder's group on the net and it is also possible that RAF (Rutan Aircraft Factory) will have an answer.
