thank you all for all the stories and please do keep them coming.
My point of view here was that the transition from instruments to visual in IMC would look very much different the VMC. The way it looks for me now is at the MAP i pull up the hood and see a bright sunny day visibility greater then 6 miles and even if I were half blind i could see the runway for a couple of miles back. I think that flying in IMC would look very much different and in the transition it would be much more difficult to try to catch a glance of those first couple of runway lights of the airport environment. Also I'm sure it takes some getting used to in those last few minutes of the approach when you have to try to keep the airport insight and maintain your instrument scan so you dont get into trouble.
All of these things Im currently not getting under the hood.
