I think it's really doing a disservice to this guy to call him a "passenger". He has a PPL, he didn't know all the answers, but he knew who to ask. Many of us have thousands of hours and multiple type-ratings, but if we were put in a similar situation, we'd have to do essentially the same thing in an aircraft for which we were not rated. He behaved like the pilot that he is.
