The Organ Grinder and The Monkey

Clifford is the organ grinder...guess who the monkey is?
The Chairman is calling the shots here...AJ is telegenic and composed with an endearing Irish accent...the perfect PR man.
The organ grinder will keep him on a tight leash and will exploit every opportunity.
As far as being lean and mean Qantas has had the guts cut out of it over the last seven years. The only fat left to trim is executive level management. The troops are thin on the ground everywhere else.
Retiring expensive to operate older aircraft is common sense. They were to be retird any way...the time frame has just been altered.
This current scenario will change. In twelve to eighteen months pent up demand will explode and load factors will be back into the high 80%.Just like SARS and 911 this is temporary.Worse agreed...but still temporary.
BTW...have you tried to book a seat to Europe?
Reducing capacity elevates yield.
Lets not forget that QF is still up for a profit this financial year.A small profit but a profit nonetheless.
How many other carriers will generate profit this year? Not many
