my instructor has confirmed that the mark is a Rate One turn. Is it?
The turn coordinator only indicates a Rate 1 turn if the aircraft is in balance; so unless the ball is in the middle its not a Rate 1 turn. If you understand how a Turn Coordinator works you will know why.
