10,000 days ago today, in a faraway land, there was an airshow......
All taken at the Air Force 81 airshow at New Sarum (Zimbabwe) on the 25/10/1981
And at the same location 28-years earlier, 13th June 1953.

Rhodes Centenary Air Rally 1953 - Airfield View

83 Sqn Lincoln from Hemswell

219 Sqn Meteor NF Mk 11 from Kabrit in the Canal Zone and in the background 12 Venoms of 266 Sqn from Wunsdorf (Germany).

Sadly the next day two Harvards from 5 FTS at RAF Thornhill collided in mid-air. Three crew were killed, but no one on the ground was injured.

I flew in the formation practice at RAF Thornhill (5 FTS) and took these photos of the two aircraft (FX 373 & FX 431) that collided and crashed at Salisbury three days later on 14th June 1953.
