I don't know the local procedures at Stansted but the runway direction is usually determined by the wind. However, if the wind is light there maybe local procedures for "preferential" runways. E.g. At Heathrow it's preferential westerlies, i,e they land and take-off to the west. The current wind at Stansted is variable direction with hardly any strength so if it stays like that the runway will probably be unchanged. Having said all that.........!
