Gulf: I checked the 2 sites you suggested on GE.
They are in the UAE, not far from the Oman border.
I know that road quite well and I do not think there is either a VOR or any other facility of aeronautical interest there. In fact, there is a chicken farm and a golf course ("sand course")!
