be very very patient

Carlso:

the screening for the 2009 classes just finished and there are three batches in all, and the first batch has yet to start. Assuming that a batch needs AT THE VERY VERY LEAST one year to complete its training then it will take... well you can do the math.

If I were you I wouldn't worry so much about the medical requirements yet, instead I'd focus on my job and prepare for a long wait. You'll be lucky if you get called for the orientation late next year. In my case, I passed my requirements early 2007 and got called for the orientation in October of last year. That's more than a year's wait.

I'm not trying to discourage you ok? I'm just being real.

Well about the initial medical requirements, just don't get Hepatitis, TB, HIV, or any of those "heavy" diseases, all the rest can be remedied by medication. And don't be on any illegal drugs when you start the screening process. And also if you're colorblind then don't waste your time applying.

But of course before you even think about the medical requirements, you should worry about the first stage, the Impact Interview. A lot of applicants don't even make it past this stage, I'd say around 40-50% of the applicants don't make it through. And I think it's not enough to just merely squeak through the Impact Interview, you should go in there and knock 'em dead with your confidence, conversational skills, enthusiasm, and personality. So that when ranking time comes you'll have an advantage over the other applicants who didn't do quite as well as you did in the Impact Interview.

Well that's a lot of words, I hope I was able to help you.
