Dont hold your breath but IF it translates into subsidies AND earmarking slots that might leave the way open to someone opening the Heathrow route. Won't likely be BMI as the dafties at Peel are suing them in the High Courts for the withdrawal of the baby services.
Even if this does go through, as you said, bmi won't do it, not necessarily because we're taking them to court, but because they've already found new use for our slots. No-one else will do it either because no-one else is suited to doing it. However, I'm tempted to look at the bigger picture here, if this does go through, I'll be happy for all the other airports around the Country that will have protected access to LHR.
