- Tradition
- Seniority (Influence - OCU status)
- WWII record (617 and CXX are special exemptions)
- Cranwell or St Clement Danes (laid up) and written with the greatest of respect esp the latter.
- Convenience
- Badge Style
- Can of worms
- Politics
And the potential for the formation of new squadrons ?
