So long as you have initiative and a couple of US$100s you can get a work permit. I got mine in Kenya in 3 days back in 1994 by slipping an Immigration guy a Time magazine containing US$300 in a car park down the road from his office. Probably still the same today but the price might be higher...give it a go, they can only say "No" or "I want more money!"
