"3 rotations a day on a SleazyJet 737 = a

& thank goodness it will never happen! It's like comparing apples with pears, low cost operation vs. high cost operation on a short-haul domestic route will lose out. Plenty of examples already available e.g. FlyBe to Inverness from Birmingham & Manchester - routes which Eastern very nicely started up for them!
Given the economic downturn, Eastern's business developments in recent months has really seen them return back to their 'Oil' roots with the taking over of the Scatsta contract plus the new Oslo routes. Given their need for high yield & that the oil industry is just about the only industry left that still makes very high profits & is cash rich as well, I think you'll find Mr. Lake & his team have got it just right in not backing shorter haul domestic routes anymore.
