They'll be flying much bigger and more profitable stuff to and from places ending in "USA" and "eathrow".
Can't see that happening, UA are the other major player in Star and they do plenty of transatlantic from LHR, we may end up doing one or two niche routes that UA wouldn't make a profit on but there is no way LH will start up a large transatlantic operation at LHR whilst they are still in the Star Alliance. South America or Far East is a possible I suppose but I honestly don't foresee any substantive long haul operations in the near future, more mid haul certainly as they seem to be making money.
