Iris Air

Air Cargo news are reporting that:

NEW Ghana-registered cargo airline, Iris Air, has begun operations with its DC8-62F aircraft, registered 9GAED. Iris Air has appointed ECO Administration as its general sales agent and Tony Knight, who was with Intavia/AIA until it ceased trading, has joined the company as its new commercial director.

Following a cargo flight from Kent International Airport (Manston), the aircraft then positioned into Liege. Knight said: “We have chosen Kent and Liege as our UK and Mainland Europe bases for their convenient locations, and their helpful and supporting cargo handling staff and management.

“The aircraft is fully equipped for worldwide operations and I am pleased to say that we have a number of flights already booked for February and despite the market being a little quiet at the moment, we are looking forward to a busy and successful operation in 2009. I believe that the DC8-62F is economically the best narrow-body cargo aircraft available for payloads of 40 tons, and is suitable for all types of cargo, including livestock and horses.
