-Don't try to get everything at the beginning,you will be busy with your course,training..and last but not least paper work!Make it easy:
IMHO:Try to rent a car initially for 1 month 2 months..whatever(plenty of companies, you will need it for SURE..unfortunatly here...public transport is not well developped, and you might wait for long time for taxi depending of the area and the time of the day...Make sure the insurance is valid and build up some experience into the selfish Chaotic way of drive here in Doha.!I can only recommanded you one think:Be Very carefull!!A lot of Idiots here on the street who don't respect anything!
Buy a car once you finished everything,course,training...
-loan is available at the bank to buy a car(hope it's still the case,haven't buy a car for long now here)
-Accomodations are furnished.(yes most of the time they put you straight into the accomodation..)
-transport allowance is enough to fill up your car, gaz is very cheap here: 0.2 U$/liter.
