Bit dramatic for a machine that will probably lift off at around 20 MPH! A man can run faster than that.
Flying from an icy lake and it has brakes?
I presume it will be flown into a steady wind [not gusting as per the previous attempt].
And finally when it flew in 1909 the pilot was also having his first flying lesson. Unlike the present attempt which will be flown by a man with many hours in his logbook. If I were him I would get some time in on an early microlight first.
Final point, if the cg was wrong [and aft maybe?] no wonder it was unstable!
