The majority of users come to PPRuNe genuinely seeking information or to contribute to meaningful, professional debate.

Another cause of (deletion of) posts (is that they) have been made without adequate or sometimes any thought. One assumes the vast majority of users here are professional, commercial pilots, familiar with the concepts of various aircraft type performance and with access to a variety of technical data.

Accident and incident threads are a particular source of (concern) to the Mods. The number of pathetic "expert opinions" posted on PPRuNe, based on absolutely no technical knowledge of the accident/incident (and often a sad reflection on the user's lack of real professional flying knowledge) can be quite nauseas - and misleading to families and relatives of those involved.

The vast majority of users don't want to sift through a plethora of meaningless, inane, unprofessional and inappropriate chaff to follow a thread topic.

Thank you T/W. Sage advice in need of repeat at intervals.

In some contexts it is best to curb the urge to flippancy and stick firmly to the point. Took me years to arrive at that one. Maybe never did. (Okay, okay Tin. I hear you.)
