I will have to geek about on the web and learn how to do that!

The laptop did not come with any install disks either (Toshiba satellite L40) so I presume it's recovery is on a partition. So far the only recovery option I can see to use is a factory restore.

I tried running chkdsk from cmd in safe mode but it still does not get past the startup repair in order to run it on reboot. I also tried (cant remember)/scannow but it cannot do that as it says it still has a checkdisk scan scheduled which it can not get round to doing!

I think i'm in over my head here
