Some advice?

As crew selector, wouldn't you be the best person to give aspiring candidates advice, as opposed to just telling someone their advice is 'nonsense'?
I personally followed similar advice to HZ's, and was successful at the interview. It might not be the 'make all or break all' of your interview, but it certainly helps.
