CAT III (
Instrument landing system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) is a type of instrument landing system used in low visibility.
Bournemouth has recently been doing overnight works to upgrade the existing system to be rated CAT III (reportedly as a request from RyanAir before they committed too many planes to be based here). I believe this may be close to being finished, if not already completed.
Bournemouth is a small regional airport servicing 1m passengers per year currently undergoing massive expansion and renovation. Details of all the works can be found here
Bournemouth Airport : Development and the first phase is due to be completed by Easter 2010.
