You have control. The version above is powered by an 85-hp Mercury Marine engine. An earlier version was powered by a 65-hp Continental. The wing is a very safe design, but it is limited to relatively low airspeeds. Here is Convair's 103 Spratt Controlwing. Note the absence of ailerons. The wing was also known as the "free wing" and the "rocking wing". In the Convair, below, the centre wing joint is covered by a flexible fairing.
