I see where you are going with this. It makes perfect sense. Why stick with the proven low cost model of common type that has made virgin successful all over the world. Why wouldn't VA be the first to introduce a widebody from a different manufacturer to supplement their narrow body airbus fleet. Think of the benefits of the extra training costs, recruiting, maintenance, ground handling. I can't understand why somebody didn't think of it before.

You might be onto something. Looks like the New York mechanic may be the new source of unconfirmed industry best practice rumours.
