Nothing in the article is new but it is coherently collected together and uses ded gud english to say what everyone already knew. I would suggest that whoever wrote the article was trying to scoop the flygobespan decision to pull out but he was stonewalled and this left him very little new to write about. Still, it is a good article bringing the problems to the wider audience of the Northern Echo than this forum.
As fot the road links...everything is sorted with the new junction and as for the wider issues of the A1 this is not something Teesside airport can deliver. There is an excellent road infrastructure compared to other parts of the country. Have you ever tried to access Stansted recently along the A14/M11 it is horrendous whatever time of the day or night you use it.
The rail operator will not stop his trains at the station because there are no passengers wanting to use it. It is a chicken and egg situation but because of recent and proposed building the rail access to the terminal is problematical and requires road transport outside of the airport. There is already a link to Darlington railway station which is as fast as the train journey to Teessside airport and then the transfer to the terminal.
The re re branding back to Teesside is obviously the way forward but whoever made the decision to go for DTV is obviously still at Peel and will not want to look as stupid as he/she obviously was, in the eyes of the people of Teesside.
