Manpower planning for pilots is not as simple as u think. They may announce since the downturn but the magnitude of the downturn did not become evident till late Oct where global financial institutions started collapsing one by one.

Singaporean mentality? In wat sense? In telling u that u think SIA owes u an interview and a job? I am just pointing the obvious to you young man, not just SIA, jet airways, air india or for that matter, any company, has the right not to conduct any interviews despite posting for the job vacancy. Just by posting and inviting applications does not mean they have the obligation to conduct interviews.

FYI, SIA cargo is staring at asking pilots to go on no pay leave, likely to park some aircraft in US deserts. Cadet intake is rumoured to be from 350 per year to 250 in 2009. The reduction plus potential large number of unemployed will mean SIA has the larger pool of cadets wannabes to choose from just in Singapore and Malaysia alone. Yes, its a fact, if SIA has enough pool of singaporean and Malaysians to choose from, they are not likely to consider Indian cadets. I am not speaking for management but its a fact of aviation, Malaysia Airlines will recruit only Malaysians, Thai Airways only Thai nationals. Ab initio cadetship will open to foreigners only if they can't find enough of their own nationals to fill them.
