Local radio this morning

A couple of very disgruntled punters on BBC Tees this morning bemoaning the current state of affairs at MME, i.e. lack of flights, continual lack of destination choice, always having to travel to Newcastle, etc.
No lesser person than Peel’s Deputy Chief Exec replied with the usual cr*p that local radio never have the ability to question; it’s not our fault, there’s been a recession for the last three months, completely skirted around whether GSM would be there or not in 2009. The only positive thing he could find to say was the usual ‘we’re in talks with a number of potential operators’ (aren’t they always), the price of car parking has been reduced, and that KLM have increased capacity from an F70 to an F100 to AMS, which is what it used to be anyway !!

Oh, and he indicated there’s yet another master plan for MME (must be up to at least version 87 by now) to be unveiled early in the New Year, this one covering the next 25 years. If management continue to run things as they’ve done for the last two or three years, we’ll be lucky to see it still functioning as an airport in 25 months. But perhaps that’s what the new master plan is ?
