HelenD I taught myself "wind up" initially - in my case because the "jiggling" had me worried - and got through the exam that way, but when it came to doing the actual Navex's I found my instructors all used wind down, and so when they were checking what I had done etc. they were all very keen for me to use the same method.
I now use "wind down" without even thinking about it. It just seems that itsa "wind down" world out there: don't fight it
