London Luton – Top UK Airport for passenger growth

London Luton Airport is delighted to announce its position as No.1 UK airport for passenger growth.
London Luton handled the largest increase in passenger numbers of any UK airport in the period Jan-Sep 08, with an additional 487,311* passing through the airport, 6.5% up on the previous year. This increase is greater than the total population of Bedfordshire, the county within which London Luton resides, or the population of Malta.
This fantastic growth has been fuelled by the launch of a number of new routes with further inroads into Cyprus, Italy, Poland and Jersey as well as airlines adding frequency to existing destinations.
Glyn Jones, the Airport's Managing Director commented "We have achieved this position due to our excellent transport links to London, the South East and the Midlands as well as having one of the best Airport catchment areas in the UK. This has been an encouraging year for us and shows just how attractive London Luton Airport now is to airlines and travellers alike."
