If it's true then it's not surprising. They make a lot more money leasing their aircraft than running MME ALC type routes. I believe they have also got a lucrative MOD contract recently. They don't seem to fit into any slot really either dedicated long haul or locost short routes operator. Their aircraft spend too many hours on the ground to be a loco and their long haul operations have had horrendous problems over the last two years but they insist that they are profitable.
MME was always a side show for them and they must be using the credit crunch as an excuse to get out.
Still look on the bright side it opens up the MME TFS and ALC routes to a new operator...Kazakstanair or Middlesbrough Airways perhaps.
Remember the glass is always half full.
