From a business perspective I can understand why Aer Lingus wouldn't want it. It's not worth starting an A330 base in Cork, so that flying in empty aircraft, which isn't good for the economics. And all that to take passengers off their own routes from Dublin and Shannon to the US and from Cork to Heathrow and Amsterdam. If the plan for US-based crews had happened, maybe it would have been ore viable.
