Radionavigation questions.

Hi all,

I was doing some questions of the Volare question bank and have a few doubts:

Q106) What is the deviation per dot on the HSI when using an
2-dot RNAV system in the approach mode?
A) 10°
B) 0.5 NM
C) 10 NM
D) 0.5°
(according to the mark scheme)

For this question according to my book, for RNAV/APR the total deviation of the CDI from the centre is 1.25 NM. I don't get where the 0.5º comes from.

Q279) What is the deviation per dot on the HSI when using a 2-
dot basic RNAV system in the en-route mode?
A) 2 NM
B) 10 NM
C) 5 NM (according to the mark scheme)
D) 1 NM

I need a clarification for this question. When it says "2-dot" does it means a total of 2 dots on the whole HSI or 2 dots on each side of the centre. If in the first case, then I understand, but if in the second case, then I would think of it being 2.5 NM.

Q129) The outer marker of an ILS with a 3° glide slope is
located 4.6 NM from the threshold. Assuming a glide
slope height of 50 FT above the threshold, the
approximate height of an aircraft passing the outer
marker is:
A) 1300 FT
B) 1450 FT (according to the mark scheme)
C) 1400 FT
D) 1350 FT

I would appreciate if someone calculates this and tells me whether or not they get 1514 ft as the answer because I keep on getting that, and eventhough the closest is 1450 ft, why this 50 ft difference?

Thanks.
